Rev.
Linda Joy Lewis M.A.Ed committed
to a total vegan diet in 1998, after being a vegetarian and near-vegan since
1968. She is an active volunteer with local vegan events in and near
Jacksonville and Gainesville, Florida, where she
has lived since 1991. These events have included educational lectures,
food preparation demos such as seitan and kombucha-making workshops, and
offering free samples of her food and recipes at local food stores.
Linda
earned a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of
Florida, in 1994, and was ordained an interfaith ADL minister in 2009. Much of
her ministry is focused on furthering awareness of “ahimsa”, or compassion
for all life, including our animal friends.
In the nineteen seventies
she co-operated a vegetarian boarding house near the University of Hawaii,
and was an active member of the Honolulu food co-op, Kokua Country Foods. In
the 1990’s, she expanded that work as Hospitality Coordinator of the World
Harmony Project, a vegetarian music retreat in Gainesville, Florida.
Linda expresses her philosophy with the
simple words: “Peace, Love and Tofu”!
